Fairy Tales from Around the World Meet in Turkey

Countries will share tales of love and affection in their respective national cultures with people of different countries and cultures in the "Fairy Tales for All" project realised by the Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNet) Yunus Emre Enstitüsü (YEE) is the term president of.

Organized by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü within the scope of its mission of gathering with all similar institutions and organizations from around the world in the field of cultural diplomacy, establishing common grounds and conducting projects through sharing knowledge and experience,"Fairy Tales for All Festival" will be held in Ankara between April 19-24, 2017.

The project to be realized with the aim of strengthening tolerance and consolidating rapport among various cultures through exhibiting and presenting on the international platform the fairy tales  acknowledged as the building blocks of cultures, will be participated by representatives from institutions of member countries and a story teller will perform fairy tales in Ankara.

While the theme of the festival was determined as “love / affection” that is the shared emotion and language of the humanity, a story teller from each country will tell a tale from their respective culture in their mother language not exceeding 15 minutes. In addition to brief information each narrator will give about the tale at the beginning, a short summary of the tale will be shared in Turkish and English to ensure that the audience is immersed in the tale.

Turkey will participate in the project with the Phoenix, Lady Nardaniye, Daughter of Basil Man, Silent Princess (Sultan), Smiling Apple Crying Apple and Rose Beauty tales.

In the event, Philippines will introduce its culture with Manik Buangsi, the South Korea with Woodcutter and the Beautiful Girl, Nigeria with Ekineta, Poland with the Treasure Under the Bridge, Taiwan with the Peace Made with the Pacer- The Story Told in the Pavilion, and Hungary with tales with "mercy, peaceful and positive emotions" themes.

Global Public Diplomacy Network

The Global Public Diplomacy Network was established on October 23rd , 2014 in Seoul by institute representatives who signed "Global Public Diplomacy Institutions Memorandum of Understanding". The aim of the network is to enable culture and public diplomacy institutions operating in different regions of the world, to share knowledge in theoretical and practical fields, and for them to make bilateral and multilateral projects.

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü is the three-yearly term president of the Global Public Diplomacy Network Turkey is a member of next to public and cultural diplomacy institutions of Philippines, Sweden, South Korea, Taiwan, Nigeria, Poland, Portugal, Singapore and Hungary.
