Advisory Meeting of Turkish Summer School

The Introduction Meeting of Turkish Summer School, which has been annually organized by the Yunus Emre Institute since 2010, took place with the participation of Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş, the Chairman of the Institute, and Directors of TÖMER (Turkish and Foreign Languages Research and Application Center) in Ankara on Tuesday, April 3.

In the organization started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Ateş, the Chairman of the Institute, he informed the directors of TÖMER about the Schedule of Turkish Summer School of 2018.

We should render the perception of Turkey to a positive state

In his opening speech, Prof. Ateş stated that “Turkish Summer School” Project, through which Yunus Emre Institute hosts young people who want to get to know Turkey and Turkish better in Turkey, has completed its 8th year.

Mr. Ateş said: “The main purpose of the Yunus Emre Institute is to render the perception of Turkey to a positive state by communicating with people living outside of Turkey. In addition, teaching Turkish is one of the most significant activities of the Yunus Emre Institute as well as the development of institutional capacity and science diplomacy.” He also explained that this year, around 1.000 people will be hosted in different provinces of Turkey within the scope of summer school. Mr. Ateş, pointing out that the number of applications reached nearly to 60 thousand, stated that they aim at hosting more foreign students in Turkey next year.

After the opening speech, the participants watched an introductory film showing the activities realized by the Institute in the fields of diplomacy of culture, art and science. In the meeting, the results obtained in the Turkish Summer School last year were evaluated and opinions were exchanged related to the activities to be realized this year.
