Archers of the Future Met in Istanbul!

Realized by Yunus Emre Institute  and Archers Foundation, the first phase of Kemankeş Project, Turkish Archery Training took start in Istanbul with participation of 40 athletes from 16 countries.

40 athletes from Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Morocco, Palestine, Iran, Japan, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Lebanon, Malaysia, Egypt, Poland, Serbia, Sudan and Jordan came together in Istanbul within the scope of the project which aims to introduce traditional Turkish archery to the world and to earn new  athletes to our ancestral sport.

Following the opening ceremony, the athletes visited the museum, masjid, sultan's pavilion, library, training areas, workshops and shooting range located at the Archers Foundation Sports and Cultural Centre and later started training in groups. The training in which all kinds of theoretical and practical knowledge and experience on traditional Turkish archery will be provided within the schedule, consists of 33 courses.

The historical and cultural attractions of Istanbul will also be visited by the athletes within the framework of the training, where all relevant topics ranging from making Ottoman range arrows to bow configuration, and from shooting techniques to Turkish archery scoring system will be taught.

Upon completing the course schedule, a competition will be held where participants will demonstrate their skills. In the closing ceremony to be held after the competition, all athletes certificates will receive certificates from Archers Foundation Chairman Haydar Ali Yıldız, Archers Foundation Board of Trustees Member Bilal Erdoğan and Yunus Emre Institute  President Şeref Ateş.
