Cemal Akyıldız Engraving Exhibition in Montenegro

“Art Exhibition of Engravings” of the artist Cemal Akyıldız, which was organized by Yunus Emre Institute Podgorica, was presented to taste of Montenegrin art lovers. The exhibition, which was opened on July 12, 2015 at Petnitsa Culture-Art Center within scope of BIHOR Culture & Art Festival, is being closed today.

Who is Cemal Akyıldız?

Cemal Akyıldız was born in Kaziret (Ağaçbaşı) village of Of in 1933. His favorite course during his school days was painting. His love for painting would be the sole purpose of his entire life for years. He was always supported after his talent was recognized by his teachers. As a result, he greeted his art life by sending his work to an international painting contest among primary schools.

He came to Istanbul in 1949 in order to attend Academy of Fine Arts. The artist advanced his painting education by studying at art studios of numerous famous artists. He started to practice his occupation by drawing paintings of newspapers, printing houses, houses and advertisement at the art studio which he opened at a young age in Babıâli. The painting education, which he received here, made a significant contribution to improvement of his painting technique and creation of his own drawings. At his art studio, he made works in every branch of painting and drew hundreds of book and novel covers in the field of banner writings. He also received courses in the field of calligraphy from significant calligraphists at the time. He had earned his living by drawing book covers in Babıâli for years. He became one of the artists who revived engraving, which was started with Renaissance in the West, after many years. He specifically addresses historical themes in his paintings.
