“Mobile Math Museum" Exceeds the Limits

Yunus Emre Institute keeps reaching young and creative individuals with its “Mobile Math Museum” project realized within the scope of Scientific and Academic Cooperation of Turkey Project (TABIP) initiated under auspices of Presidency of Turkish Republic.

Yunus Emre Institute carries out public and culture diplomacy activities towards introduction of Turkey all around the world, moves scientific activities of Turkey with the project prepared within the frame of TABİP initiated with the aim of strengthening international scientific and academic cooperation.

The Museum met with Syrian children in February and March months of 2018 that were put under protection in temporary refugee centers of Turkey, turned its route to Bosnia Herzegovina and Hungary after reaching to almost 45 thousand children in the age range of 6-18.

First Stop in Abroad is Bosnia Herzegovina

Mobile Math Museum materializes math formulas and provides young to reach science, was welcomed with great interest in its first stop, in Bosnia Herzegovina. The Museum operated in Sarajevo, Mostar and Tuzla came together with almost 2000 children.

Principal of Fatima Gunic Elementary School, Hajrudin Cuprja that was visited in Sarajevo, evaluated the project in her interview with Anatolian News Agency. Stating, “We are happy because children see objectified form of math in the museum. We think the museum will be very useful for kids,” Cuprja indicated they were proud of being visited and drew attention to that project is very important for children to decide what they are going to do in the future.

Mobile Math Museum is in Hungary

Next stop of Mobile Math Museum was Hungary. Mobile museum met science and math with children in the cities of Budapest, Eger and Prügy was welcomed here, too with deep interest.

Mobile Math Museum visited by hundreds of children in every school it goes offered “Visual Reality” (VR) experience for many visitors. Including science and technology within itself successfully, the Museum created huge reactions in Hungarian media and was mentioned in several news in written and visual media.

There was Big Excitement in the Schools visited by the Museum

One of the schools visited by Mobile Math Museum in Budapest was Gabor Aron Altalanos Elementary School. Students welcomed Mobile Museum in the garden of their schools garnished with Turkish flags, gave gifts, which were prepared by their own, to Institute officials. Principal Szabo Erzsebet made evaluations about the visit stated “Our doors are always open to Turkey. I think projects like this are excellent practices in terms of supporting friendship between two countries.” Erzsebet added that soon they would like to begin Turkish language education as a selective course at school.

Mobile Math Museum Wind in Prügy

Prügy almost 3 hours away from Budapest was one of the stops of Mobile Math Museum. Students coming from nine different village schools had the opportunity to visit the museum settled in Moricz Zsigmond Altalanos Elementary School within the same day. Not only students but also media showed deep interest to the Museum.

An Efficient Practice for Science Education                       

Principal of Europa 2000 Elementary School, which was one of the other schools visited in capital city Budapest, Papp Andras indicated “Mobile Math Museum is an efficient and a very good practice. As a school has photography and cinema workshops, flight simulation room and science laboratories it is quite a good feeling for us to see such a good practice here and to host Turkey in our school.”

“Scientific and Academic Cooperation of Turkey Project” (TABIP) 

Yunus Emre Institute initiated “Scientific and Academic Cooperation of Turkey Project” (TABIP) with the aim of introducing Turkey’s opportunity and capacity in the fields of science, academy and technology along with its culture diplomacy activities to the world and also creating Turkey’s scientific and academic interaction strategies.

Initially aiming creation of a “science diplomacy” within TABIP realized under auspices of Presidency Yunus Emre Institute will contribute closely following the developments around the world, while introducing Turkey’s scientific and technological powerful sides to international public in line with its experience in the field of international networks and diplomacy.

“Mobile Math Museum”

Mobile Math Museum includes special stations of Tales Math Museum that is the most extensive math museum of Europe offers a unique experience to children in the non-physical world of math by offering visual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) experience with 35 special math formula stations. It is aimed with different programs arranged in the company of expert educators to teach and endear math by integrating it into social life.
