They learned about Turkish art in Afyon while learning Turkish

Foreign students who came to Afyon to attend Yunus Emre Enstitüsü's 2017 "Turkish Summer School" participated in social and cultural activities as well as learning Turkish. The young people who visited Kocatepe Monument and witnessed city's history, also visited the famous hot springs of Afyon. Students learned the specifics of marbling, calligraphy and tile making in the Youth Centre and demonstrated their skills, making tiles. Young people who received Turkish training in Afyon Kocatepe University Turkish Instruction Centre (AKÜ TÖMER), blended Turkish language with Anatolian culture spending time in the city.

Trainees who successfully completed Yunus Emre Enstitüsü's Turkish courses abroad and foreign students studying in Turcology departments of universities abroad, came to Turkey within the scope of 2017 "Turkish Summer School" program. A group of young people from 57 countries who came to Turkey received training in Afyon Kocatepe University. Foreign guests visited historical and cultural destinations as well as attending Turkish lessons and participated in various cultural activities.

Young people from five continents were in Afyon for Turkish

Organized for the 8th time in 2017 by Yunus Emre Enstitüsü, Turkish Summer School was organized in 22 cities including Afyon. 20 foreign students who came to Afyon to participate in the program, improved their Turkish skills they learn in Turcology departments in their respective countries, in everyday life and discovered the Turkish culture and art in events they attended.

Young foreigners participated in the tile course held in Afyon Youth Centre on Friday, August 11th  and tried making tiles. They learned the specifics of marbling, calligraphy and tile-making in the Youth Centre, they produced Turkish delight at the counter in Turkish delight workshop and learned Turkish folk dances in courses they attended. They got the chance to learn about Bursa, Konya and Denizli in cultural excursions organized to neighbouring cities. The young people had a busy schedule, participating in horse-riding and archery trainings. They were very pleased with Afyon.

The countries and cities of the 20 students who were trained in Afyon are as follows; Jordan / Amman, Netherlands / Amsterdam, Serbia / Belgrade, Lebanon / Beirut, Kosovo / Pec, Egypt / Alexandria, Albania / Shkoder, Montenegro / Podgorica, Morocco / Rabat, Bosnia-Herzegovina/ Sarajevo, South Korea / Seoul, Iran / Tehran, Georgia / Tbilisi, Albania.

Heart bridges are established through Turkish

Through these activities which embrace all colours of our culture, we get the opportunity to establish face-to-face contact with hundreds of thousands of people and to explain ourselves. We build heart bridges between our country and young people who participate in the courses we organize at Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Centres located at 103 points in the world."
