Turkish Summer School Students' Journey in Turkey

Students of Eskişehir group who visited Turkey in the scope of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü Turkish Summer School from around the world, attended Turkish lessons held at Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) while learning about Turkish culture on site.

Turkish Language Summer School Students in Yunus' Land

The first stop of students in Eskişehir group was Yunus Emre village. Students who visited the tomb of Yunus Emre, a 13th century mystic and thinker, were moved with the visit. The students who prayed for Yunus, Enstitü was named after, later read the poem "They found in Laziness".

Foreign students in Turkish cuisine

In another enjoyable part of the program, students entered Turkish cuisine and learned how to make cookies and lemonades. Students offered the cookies and lemonade they prepared, and later got together and chatted with AK Party Deputy Chairman and Eskişehir deputy Harun Karacan in Odunpazarı.

Visit to Sivrihisar Mayor

Students who visited Sivrihisar Mayor Hamid Yüzügüllü were presented with items made in the handicraft workshops under the municipality and with cultural services of the municipality. The students tasted the traditional Sivrihisar dishes at the restaurant opened by Sivrihisar Municipality as part of the Utilization of Women's Labour Project. The students who visited the streets restored by Sivrihisar Municipality, the Open Air Sculpture Museum and Zaim Ağa Mansion, left Sivrihisar afterwards.

Different language different culture

The students who visited the workshops in the Odunpazarı district with ESOGÜ TÖMER lecturers, met with calligrapher Özdemir Şenova and ceramic master Öznur Özden. After receiving information about handicrafts, the students participated in the workshop and tried calligraphy and ceramic painting.

Students from Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Macedonia, Georgia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Romania, Afghanistan and Albania also visited Kütahya Mayor Kamil Saraçoğlu. President Saraçoğlu, who greeted students one by one, chatted with foreign students and gave information about municipality's history.

 

Turkish-style henna night for foreign students

A Turkish-style henna night was organized for 17 students from 11 countries, hosted in Turkey by organization of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü and Eskişehir Osmangazi University (ESOGÜ) Turkish Language Instruction Application and Research Centre and who visited the city to see the historical and cultural venues of Kütahya.

The event ended after Kütahya Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Zülkarni Yeldemez presented the visiting students with china plates featuring their photographs and students released balloons for peace.

Foreign students who visited ESOGÜ Mahmudiye Horse Breeding Vocational High School had exciting minutes riding horses accompanied by master trainers after receiving information from Mahmudiye Horse Breeding Vocational High School Instructors.

District Governor Gökhan Dolaş, Director of Anatolian Agricultural Organization Yıldıray Çil and member of Metropolitan Municipal Council Mustafa Arslan hosted the students who were hosted in Mahmudiye Anatolian Agricultural Organization Directorate. District Governor Gökhan Dolaş said, "We would also like to thank the students for speaking Turkish so well."

Journey to History in Bursa...

The students and ESOGÜ TÖMER instructors started the Bursa tour with breakfast in the historical Cumalıkızık village. After Cumalıkızık visit, students visited Osman Gazi and Orhan Gazi mausoleums in Tophane and also got the opportunity to visit Bursa City Museum and Grand Mosque.

After attending the closing ceremony held at the Presidential Complex under the auspices of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, foreign students who participated in Yunus Emre Enstitüsü 2017 Turkish Summer School returned to their countries with the experience they have gained and beautiful memories.
