YTB Scholars Will Teach Turkish

A  certificate program for “Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language”  has got underway for the foreign students who were provided “Turkish Language Scholarships” by the Presidency of the Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). The program is being organized jointly by the Yunus Emre Institute and Hacettepe University.  

Speaking in the opening of the program, Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Dr. Ateş said that language teaching is a journey from one human being to another.  He stated that doctoral and master students from 19 different countries are participating in the program, adding: “Even though our names are different, even though some of us were born in India, Iraq or Russia, our common feature is that we are all human beings. There is no difference between us.”  

Pointing out that they see foreign students as part of the Yunus Emre Institute family, Ateş continued: “We need our students whose numbers continue to increase in every part of the world. Therefore, we aim to make them the employees  or volunteers of the Yunus Emre Institute.” 

Ateş underlined the need to make every effort for the language of peace to prevail all over the world and added: “I think that all of you are here for this purpose. God willing, this journey will continue for one month and you will carry messages of peace to every part of the world after obtaining your certificates.”  

The program, which started on 28 May at the Beytepe campus of Hacattepe University, will continue until 22 June 2018. 27 YTB scholars from 19 different countries, 17 of them master students and the other 10 doctoral students, will be given certificates at the end of the program.  

The students participating in the program come from Yemen, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, Macedonia, Iran, Romania, Ukraine,  Russia, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, Syria, Kazakhstan, Georgia, India, Iraq, Jordan, China,  Azerbaijan and Egypt.
