Yunus Emre Enstitüsü (YEE) recently opened its first branch in capital of USA, Washington, and it was announced that two months of intensive Turkish courses exclusive for summer season, were launched.

Washington DC YEE Director Halid Bulut made a statement to AA correspondent on Turkish language courses.

Marking that they completed preparations for introduction of Turkish language in Washington area, Bulut said, "Washington DC Yunus Emre Enstitüsü which continues its operations in US capital of Washington, D.C., launches Turkish courses for anyone interested in Turkish culture and Turkish culture, especially American citizens."

Bulut stated that in two-months long intensive Turkish courses, Turkish lessons will be given for a total of 48 hours, 6 hours a day for 2 days a week.

“Pleased with the interest towards Turkish”

Bulut said “Although it is a new course, the interest people take in Turkish language is very pleasing. We aim to announce our new culture-art events soon and to appeal American citizens as much as Turks who live in USA.” Bulut expressed that they will continue their efforts for promotion of Turkish language and culture through correct and reliable sources.

This year students from USA participated for the first time in the “Turkish Summer School” program, organized by YEE in Turkey every year since 2009, and the first group to participate in the program arrived in Istanbul the day before.

In May, YEE President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş made a working visit to USA, where he stated that they would speed up their operations in USA and carry out major operations particularly in Turkish instruction and making Turkish popular.
