Yunus Emre Institute announced the results of the Turkish Proficiency Test (TPT), held simultaneously in 41 test centres in 35 countries on Saturday, January 13^th. The number of successful candidates was 732 and the success rate was 65 % in the first test of 2018. In the test participated by 1130 people, 71 percent of the successful candidates were qualified for Turkish Proficiency Certificates at C1 level.

Turkish Proficiency Certificate

"Turkish Proficiency Certificate" granted to candidates who successfully complete the test, and prepared in accordance with proficiency definitions in the Common European Framework for Languages Text, aims to support Turkey's policies that facilitate admission of  foreign students, and is an important gain for candidates.

Individuals who hold a Turkish Proficiency Certificate will be exempt from Turkish language preparatory class when they are eligible to study in any Turkish university.  Turkish Proficiency Certificate is a great advantage in job applications for individuals who wish to work in companies that operate in Turkey or their respective countries, who aspire to become a Turkish interpreter or teaching candidates.

60 Percent Increase in Applications

The interest in the test, put into practice in 2013 by Yunus Emre Institute for Turkish language to gain an internationally valid standard test, increases each year. The majority of the applicants are young people between the ages of 16-25 and the number of applications to the test increased by 60 percent this year compared to the previous year.

There was intense interest in the test, and the highest number of applicants were from Azerbaijan. The test was held at three different points and there was record application from Azerbaijan with 629 applicants.

The second country with the highest participation was Turkey with 352 candidates. Approximately 70 % of the candidates in Ankara, were Syrian and Iraqi refugees hosted in Turkey.

The cities with the highest number of applicants were Baku and Ankara, followed by Astana, Tehran, Cologne, Skopje and Amman.

Turkish Proficiency Test

The applications for the second test of the year to be held on May 5^th, 2018 will be received on March 19^th, 2018.

Applied periodically three times a year by Yunus Emre Institute Exam Centre, the test is held in two sessions. Reading, listening, writing and speaking skills are tested in the first session, and speaking skills in the second. Total duration of the test is 180 minutes, and provided that candidates score a minimum of 12,5 points (50 %) in each skill section, those who have a score between 55-70 receive Turkish Proficiency Certificate at B2 level, between 71-88 at C1 level, and 89-100 at C2 level.
