Aşık Veysel Commemorated in Madrid

An event has been held in Madrid, the capital of Spain, to commemorate the two great poets of the Turkic world, Aşık Veysel and İmadeddin Nesimi.

During the program organized at Casa de Cantabria on December 4, the views, perspective on life, and contributions to art of the poets were discussed on the 125th anniversary of the birth of Turkish poet Aşık Veysel and the 650th anniversary of Azerbaijani poet İmadeddin Nesimi.

Jointly held by Yunus Emre Institute's Madrid Branch, the Turkish embassy in Madrid, the Azerbaijani embassy in Madrid, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY), and Alicia Alonso Foundation, the event garnered the attention of Spanish and Turkish art lovers.

A lecture was also held to promote the lives and works of the two great poet who gave memorable works for the artistic and cultural life of the Turkic world, and it was stressed that the two poets brought the Turkish and Azerbaijani peoples closer based on common cultural values and their poets were translated into many languages and inspired many songs and they made great contribution to the world culture. Then, an ode by Nesimi and the Spanish translation of Aşık Veysel's poem "Uzun İnce Bir Yoldayım," and musicians Kamber Nar and Ramin Karaev performed the works of Aşık Veysel and Nesimi.
