Pristina Yunus Emre Institute brought children with Down Syndrome together for marbling. The children became acquainted with the art of marbling and spent pleasant moments, experiencing the harmony of colors in water.

In cooperation with the Mitrovica Down Syndrome Centre, Yunus Emre Institute contributed to the event where individuals with down syndrome created beautiful works in marbling to make “colors dance with water”.

The event was called "X21 Marbling" and incorporated a workshop. Children with Down Syndrome residing in the city of Mitrovica in the north of Kosovo and their families participated in the program. They gained a different experience with the art of marbling, which requires patience and effort.

MARBLING TOGETHER

The workshop was coordinated by marbling teacher Şenay Yusuf. During the workshop, children with Down Syndrome and their families observed how water turned into marbling using traditional techniques and practices, and they also had the opportunity to try it.

Families of the children participating in the event expressed their feelings. "We achieved a unique result inside the marbling container and shaped our works. We hope that we can shape a livable future for our children in life, thanks to the social support from Mitrovica Down Syndrome Center and Yunus Emre Institute to us, the families of children with disabilities."

At the end of the event, Zana Bashota Broja, coordinator at Mitrovica Down Syndrome Center, emphasized that the learning times of children with Down Syndrome differed. “You need to provide them with an individualized training. Their communication is strong. It is very enjoyable to work with them. Their love is ubiquitous. These all excite us. For me, this event was very productive and beneficial, so I would like to thank Yunus Emre Institute."

Marbling teacher Şenay Yusuf said marbling made people happy and enabled them to feel free. "Marbling has an ancient past, and it is very important in terms of teaching us to build a bridge from the past into the future and, more importantly, instructing us on patience."

Filiz Pasoma, an employee at Pristina Yunus Emre Institute also commented on the event. “The children hugged and thanked us after the event, which was the best proof of how accurately the event was selected. Such activities by us will increasingly continue."

After the workshop, Yunus Emre Institute presented gifts to children with Down Syndrome.
