Children in Romania Join Türkiye Summer Camp
Yunus Emre Institute has launched a month-long “Türkiye Summer Camp” at the Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, one of Bucharest’s most renowned museums.
Following the school holidays, Yunus Emre Institute in Bucharest is hosting the “Türkiye Summer Camp” to offer children a productive and enjoyable summer experience while providing Romanian children with an in-depth introduction to Turkish culture.
At the “Türkiye Summer Camp,” children engage in a diverse range of workshops, including Turkish language, ceramics, weaving, glass painting, pottery, jewelry design, marbling, jigsaw puzzles, painting, folk dances, and drama.
In addition to the diverse workshops at the “Türkiye Summer Camp,” children enjoy quiz competitions where they learn through play and receive awards for their achievements. Following these activities, the children at the camp savor delicious Turkish cuisine snacks and have the chance to watch poetry recitals and theater performances.
Mustafa Yıldız, Coordinator of Yunus Emre Institute in Romania, states, “We are organizing this summer camp in collaboration with the National Village Museum to ensure that children stay engaged and away from screens during their summer holidays, learn through hands-on experiences, and gain a deeper understanding of Turkish culture. Additionally, we use this opportunity to update parents on the My Preference is Turkish Project and the latest developments regarding the introduction of Turkish as an elective foreign language course in public schools. At our summer camp booths, Turkish university students studying in Romania, those participating in the Erasmus Program, and Romanian students learning Turkish at our Institute volunteer their time and efforts.”
The Türkiye Summer Camp, which has garnered significant interest from children, will run until August 2, 2024.
Yunus Emre Institute continues to showcase Türkiye in Romania through its high-quality projects focused on teaching the Turkish language, as well as cultural and artistic activities.
