"Commitment" in Tbilisi International Film Festival

The 20th Tbilisi International Film Festival was held with the participation of 23 countries in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, between December 1 and 8, 2019.

Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia, the European Union, the British Council, Goethe-Institut, Institut de France, the Spanish Cultural Center, the Georgian National Film Center, TBC Bank, State Channel 1, the Municipality of Tbilisi, various companies, embassies and Yunus Emre Institute were among the sponsors of the festival and its opening ceremony was held at Amirani Cinema.

Gaga Chkheidze, the founder and director of the Tbilisi International Film Festival, delivered a keynote speech, noting that they have been in close collaboration with Turkey as part of the festival which was launched 20 years ago. Emphasizing the traditional relations that flourished thanks to this collaboration, Chkheidze indicated that they closely monitor the developments in Turkish cinema and include regularly Turkish films in the programs of the festival.

The festival was attended by Turkey, Ireland, German, Austria, England, Ukraine, France, Italy, Switzerland, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Portugal, Belgium, Brazil, the US, Canada, Iran, China, Israel, Argentina and Georgia, and approximately 100 films were screened in 8 days. Yunus Emre Institute attended the festival with "Bağlılık Aslı" (Commitment), written and directed by Semih Kaplanoğlu, and the film was screened on December 4 and 7, 2019.

The festival also included master classes and workshops and ended with the award ceremony held on December 8, 2019.
