The Distance Turkish Teaching Portal, launched in 2017, helps 320,000 people from 194 countries learn Turkish.

Yunus Emre Institute has introduced the Distance Turkish Teaching Portal for those who are keen to learn Turkish in any country around the world within the framework of its Turkish Teaching project. Having an interface in Turkish, English, Arabic and Russian, the portal teaches Turkish in A1, A2, B1, B2 and C1 levels in compliance with the European language portfolio.

The portal offers reading, listening, writing, speaking, video, grammar, evaluation and game activities to make learning Turkish fun for learners who can use to the vocabulary teaching module as well as the instant social media share feature added to the score and rank earning system. The portal also allows users to see the progress made by them or by other users, and there are plans to develop a smartphone app for the portal.

Stressing the importance of technological advances in our time, Yunus Emre Institute President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş said: "This fact has urged the Institute to launch the Distance Turkish Teaching Portal to be used freely. Egyptians show the greatest interest in the portal. This country is followed by Syria, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Jordan. It is already a significant success for us to attract 320,000 people from different countries in just three years, but this is not enough. Our goal is to reach the 1 million users mark by 2023 by developing the portal continuously."
