The Turkish Culture Week has been held in Pärnu city of Estonia to promote the Turkish culture for Estonians. Estonians show heightened interest in the event which is attended by a number of institutions and organizations from Turkey for promotional activities in their respective domains. They have an opportunity to know Turkey more closely thanks to the literary conversations, Turkish coffee offers, concerts, photo exhibitions, dance performances, interviews with business people, etc.

In the program, supported by Turkish Embassy in Tallinn and Yunus Emre Institute, Estonian people can have hands-on experience with the traditional Turkish art of ebru (marbling) and linden printing where wooden patterns are used for printing on fabric. People from all ages show close interest in the workshops to produce their own ebru works or design cloth bags using the linden printing technique.

Traditional Turkish sports are also promoted in the event as the Turkish wrestlers who are sponsored by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality show how this centuries-old sport of oil wrestling is performed.

During the Turkish Culture Week, the book "Kırmızı Elma" (Red Apple), by Feridun Oral, is distributed to preschool kids and Tahir Aydoğdu, a virtuoso of the traditional Turkish instrument of qanun, is giving concerts to music lovers.

Marking the 100th anniversary of their independence, Estonians can also get a glimpse of the shadow play of Karagöz and Hacivat and several Turkish movies as part of the Turkish Culture Week.

The event lasts until September 8.
