Göbeklitepe on world tour

Romania has been the first destination of Turkey week that is touring the world as part of 2019: Year of Göbeklitepe.

Yunus Emre Institute is organizing the first leg of Turkey week, themed as "Göbeklitepe: Humans and Life" under 2019: Year of Göbeklitepe, in Romania between April 3 and 7, 2019, with support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Embassy in Bucharest, the Turkish Businessmen Association, the Ministry of Culture of Romania, the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) Regional Development Administration, etc.

At the opening conference he gave Şanlıurfa Archaeology Museum Director and Göbeklitepe Excavation Committee Chairman Celal Uludağ at the National Library of Romania, the attendants were briefed about the historical process of Göbeklitepe, its significance in world history and the activities conducted at the site.

The opening ceremony was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bucharest Füsun Aramaz and a large number of guests including academics, archaeology students, museum professionals and distinguished invitees.

At the conference, explanations were made about Göbeklitepe and questions from the participants were answered. It was followed by a photography exhibition where detailed photographs about the excavation site and monuments were put on display.

Anatolia's patterns in Bucharest

The Anatolian Civilizations Ceramic Exhibition, inspired by diverse colors of Anatolia, the hotbed of civilizations, has been presented to the taste of art lovers at the National Museum of Romanian History in Bucharest.

The Anatolian Civilizations Ceramic Exhibition, featuring personal works by Prof. Dr. Sıdıka Sevim and Dr. Cemalettin Sevim, who are faculty members at Anadolu University, was opened by State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture of Romania Irina Caja and Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Bucharest Füsun Aramaz at the National Museum of Romanian History on April 4.

The exhibition contains not only the pattern and ceramic works produced by the artists on Anatolian civilizations since long, but also historical İznik tiles that will be displayed the for the first time although they are part the Museum's inventory. The exhibition will be open to visitors until April 19.

Anatolian ceramic art discussed at the University of Bucharest

Following the opening of the exhibition, academics Prof. Dr. Sıdıka Sibel Sevim and Dr. Cemalettin Sevim attended the workshop held at the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest to discuss the history and culture of Anatolian ceramic art.

The Romania leg of Turkey week consisting of a wide array of activities such as film screenings, music workshops, Turkish cuisine, and traditional kids games will be completed on April 7.
