Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University Rector Prof. Dr. Handan İnci has met the Turkish Literature Summer School participants. Giving a lecture entitled "An Intellectual without Peace: Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar" during an event held at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, İnci talked about the life and literary identity of Tanpınar. İnci indicated that Tanpınar had eight stories collected in a book. "In his story entitled 'Dreams of Abdullah Efendi,' Tanpınar employs a surrealist perspective ahead of his time, considering our literature in the 1930s," she said. "I have used music as a method in all of my books," İnci quoted Tanpınar as saying, adding that there is no writer who has so engaged in painting as Tanpınar in Turkish literature. "It is considerably important in order to describe the scenery," she said. İnci pointed out that Tanpınar had always been searching. "Tanpınar was a writer who always searched and questioned. He is not didactic, but he makes readers ask questions and become aware of new things," she said. Following the lecture, Prof. Dr. Handan İnci posed for a souvenir photo with the students before showing them around in the university.
