"Köprü ve Ötesi" hypnotizes Viennese music lovers

Bağlama virtuoso Ahmet Koç gave a concert in Vienna under the "Köprü ve Ötesi" (Bridge and Beyond) project, which was launched under the auspices of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic and with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Yunus Emre Institute, and he was accompanied by conductor Betin Güneş and the Turkish Chamber Orchestra.

The concert took place at Borromäus Saal Wien in the evening of Monday, January 14, and was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Vienna Ümit Yardım, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey to Vienna Asip Kaya, First Counselor of the Turkish Embassy in Vienna Mustafa Kemal Basa and Military Attaché of Republic of Turkey to Vienna Col. Abdulkadir Aktura, representatives of Turkish and foreign missions in Vienna and music lovers.

In the concert, bağlama virtuoso Ahmet Koç was accompanied by conductor Betin Güneş and the Turkish Chamber Orchestra, and soprano Janet Şahin and tenor Hakan Aysev attended as guest soloists.

In the well-attended, two-hour concert, the works of famous classical music composes such as Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert were played with the bağlama. The works of Turkish folk poets and minstrels including Yunus Emre, Aşık Veysel, Pir Sultan Abdal, Aşık Mahsuni Şerif and Neşet Ertaş were interpreted using the instruments of Western music such as cello, viola, and harp in the company of the bağlama, giving Viennese music lovers a memorable night.
