"Köprü ve Ötesi" meets Parisian music lovers

Bağlama virtuoso Ahmet Koç gave his first European concert in Paris under the "Köprü ve Ötesi" (Bridge and Beyond) project, which was launched under the auspices of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic and with support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Yunus Emre Institute, and he was accompanied by conductor Betin Güneş and the Turkish Chamber Orchestra.

The concert took place at the famous Alhambra Concert Hall in the evening of Monday, January 7, and was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Paris İsmail Hakkı Musa, Consul of the Republic of Turkey to Paris Ayberk Altunal, Val d’Oise Deputy Jean-Françoise Mancel, Hungarian Embassy Cultural Counselor Janos Havasi and Embassy of Azerbaijan representative Mirvari Fataliyeva, representatives of Turkish and foreign missions in Paris, diplomats and music lovers.

In the concert, bağlama virtuoso Ahmet Koç was accompanied by conductor Betin Güneş and the Turkish Chamber Orchestra, and soprano Janet Şahin and tenor Hakan Aysev attended the concert as guest soloists. In the concert, the memorable works of Turkish folk poets and minstrels were be interpreted using the instruments of Western music such as cello, viola, and harp, and Mozart and Vivaldi's works were played with the bağlama.

A repertoire of unique works of the Western and Eastern music were interpreted for an hour and a half, mesmerizing Parisian music lovers.

The next concert in the Köprü ve Ötesi series will be given in Italy. This concert will take place at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome on January 12, to be followed by concerts in Austria and Germany.
