Yunus Emre Institute and the Management and Science University (MSU) have signed "My Choice is Turkish Protocol."

Under the project signed as part of the Institute's "My Choice is Turkish" project, the Turkish language was added to the curriculum as an elective course at the MSU, one of Malaysia's most prestigious universities.

The signing ceremony was held at the rectorate building of the university in the city of Shah Alam, and attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Kuala Lumpur Merve Safa Kavakcı, Yunus Emre Institute's Kuala Lumpur Branch Director Dr. Ömer Altun, MSU Rector Prof. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid and Deputy Rector Prof. Junainah Abd Hamid.

Ambassador Kavakcı pointed that the scale-up of the Turkish teaching activities undertaken by Yunus Emre Institute is essentially a service to mankind. "I will do my part for the proliferation of these activities," she said.

University Rector Prof. Mohd Shukri indicated that the university staff largely consists of academics of international caliber. "The agreement we have concluded with Yunus Emre Institute will contribute greatly to our university's vision of engaging in international activities. We have already inked agreements for joint research with several universities in Turkey. I believe the present agreement will further promote our cooperation with Turkey. I would like to thank the members of the Institute for their sacrificial efforts toward the realization of the agreement," he said.

The Turkish lessons at the university will start with 60 students in the second week of February.

Yunus Emre Institute's Kuala Lumpur branch has been promoting Turkey and Turkish culture through various activities including teaching Turkish as a foreign language and courses on traditional Turkish archery, and it has started to give Turkish language lessons at Kolej Permata Insan in Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (Islamic Science University of Malaysia) under a protocol made last week.
