“Merhaba” to a Summer Full of Turkish

2018 Turkish Summer Camp has begun with the participation of 1000 students coming from 118 countries

Yunus Emre Institute continues this year too to host hundreds of students from various countries of the world that set their hearts on Turkish in Turkey. Having been organized since 2010, “Turkish Summer Camp” takes place with the participation of 1000 students from 118 countries.

To the program will take place between July 16 and August 12 2018 this year, apart from participants consisting of students of Turkology departments in Yunus Emre Institutes abroad and in universities have a protocol with the Institute, also a lot of students want to know Turkey and Turkish closer.

In the program Turkish that provides opportunity for world societies to know each other by meeting youth of different geographies in Turkey is used as communication language. Basically serving as Turkish education except from its cultural and artistic activities, the summer school enables with its travel programs learning Turkey and Turkish language with experiences. While students hosted in different provinces of our country have the opportunity to develop their Turkish and practice by participating to courses and seminars given by expert staff of the favorite universities in their provinces, they also have the chance to closely get to know natural beauties belonged to different regions. While Turkish Summer School students travel several historical, geographical and cultural places within city programs, participate in cultural activities such as wedding, henna night etc., they also get training in cultural courses such as marbling, pottery, food, baglama, folk dances etc. Meeting different geographies’ people in Turkish, the program provides opportunity for youth to interact with different cultures.

Turkology Students met in Capital

Within “Turkology Cooperation Protocol” signed with 95 universities in 46 countries of the world, the Institute hosts students successful in their departments and have never seen Turkey before in summer school.

This year taking place with the participation of 150 students coming from 33 different countries, Turkology Summer School is organized with the cooperation of Haccettepe University TOMER.

While future Turkolog candidates are hosted for one month in Turkey and develop their Turkish levels, with social, cultural and touristic travel programs organized they also have opportunity to discover and learn about Turkish culture, history, social life on site.  Except from Ottoman Turkish courses, seminars, conferences, workshops and travels related to Turkology science, with institutions visit such as Turkish Language Institution (TDK) they also have chance to deepen their knowledge.

“Turkish Cinema Summer School”

By bringing in something new within summer school organized for the 9th times this year, Yunus Emre Institute has made “Turkish Cinema Summer School” program actual with the cooperation of Istanbul Şehir University.

In the program covering July 30 and August 12 2018, students from 19 countries receiving license, master and doctorate education also will be hosted. Group consisting of 24 people among them movie sector employees also exists, will not only receive a content-full education from important names of cinema history and academicians but also thanks to several activities they will participate in such as field visits, meeting with directors and city tours, they will have the opportunity to get to know Turkish cinema on site.

With a rich education program including topic such as Turkish cinema history, Turkish movie screening and analysis, milestones of Turkish cinema history, literature adaptations in the axis of Turkish cinema they will have chance to get information about development, situation, awareness in international area and works of Turkish cinema.

“Explore Turkey”

In “Turkish Summer School” gathers thousands of youth, who have the aim of travelling Turkey, learning Turkish and knowing its history closer by getting free from prejudices,  from different cultures, religions, languages and races together will  compete with each other while sharing their memories and experiences on social media by taking photographs of their feelings about Turkey during summer school.

Students will compete in photograph, video and text categories, of which subject is Turkey with the name “Explore Turkey” and live excitement of a keen competition together.
