Art lovers showed great interest in the modern art exhibition titled "Foreigner's Poetry", which tells about "alienation and the unity of different cultures" by four different artists at the Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) in Vienna, the capital of Austria.

Making a speech at the opening of the exhibition, Vienna Yunus Emre Institute Director Ayşe Yorulmaz expressed her pleasure to host the exhibition prepared by artists who deal with issues such as alienation and the coming together of different cultures from four different perspectives.

Yorulmaz stated: "We were very interested in the idea of the exhibition and the works. It is obvious that these concepts, which we often hear mentioned in a political sense, such as foreign and different cultures, have gained a different perspective in the hands of our artists."

THE SUBJECT OF "FOREIGN AND DIFFERENT CULTURES" AND TWO SPECIFIC CULTURES

Curator Karin Maritsch also explained that in the exhibition where she introduced both the works and the artists, four artists interpreted various objects with the approach of "foreign and different cultures,” specific to Turkish and Austrian cultures.

Stating that the two countries have versatile and variable relations, Maritsch stated that they are trying to convey the phenomenon of alienation through the factors affecting these two cultures.

Maritsch stated that some of the artists whose works are in the exhibition depict different cultures and alienation with human organs, while another interprets the "the individual being alienated to the universe".

Pointing out that the works in the exhibition are made on printed fabric, which has an important place in Turkish society, Maritsch remarked that World War II has a decisive place in the history of the two countries. She noted that Kara Mustafa Pasha of Merzifon, one of the most important figures of the Siege of Vienna, was also included in the exhibition.

The exhibition, which features the works of artists Sinan Gültekin, Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, Karin Maritsch and Özcan Uzkur, is open to visitors until the end of the month.
