In his speech before the concert, Turkish Ambassador to Madrid Burak Akçapar pointed out that this is a period that coincides with the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims, Easter for Christians and Passover for Jewish people. He underscored that this is an important event for promoting the common messages of the three religions, such as compassion, mercy and charity.

WORKS ON AGAINST DISCRIMINATION CONTINUE WITHIN THE ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS INITIATIVE

Akçapar stated that this concert featuring music from the three heavenly religions showed once again that religious and cultural differences are a source of wealth for humankind. He reminded that this year marks the 530th anniversary of the Sephardic Jewish people expelled from Spain and Portugal by the Catholic kings arriving in the Ottoman Empire.

"We hope this event will send a message this Ramadan to malicious groups fueling racist and anti-Islamic sentiments," Ambassador Akçapar said. "Turkey, which has adopted humanism throughout history, is strengthening its cooperation with Spain within the framework of the Alliance of Civilizations initiative, which Turkey co-chairs, and continues to work in the fight against Islamophobia, xenophobia, racism and discrimination around the world."
