Nazım Hikmet Commemorated in Moscow

Well known Turkish poet Nazım Hikmet has been commemorated in Moscow on the 118th anniversary of his birth.

The commemoration ceremony held at Yunus Emre Institute's Moscow branch on January 24, 2020 in cooperation with Nazım Hikmet Library, and it was attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Moscow Mehmet Samsar and Nazım Hikmet Library Director Galina Sudyina as well as Turkish and Russian guests.

Moscow State University Asia African Countries Institute Turkology Department President Prof. Dr. Maria Repenkova and Historian Writer Aleksandr Çeryomin briefed the participants about Nazım Hikmet, and Moscow State University Asia African Countries Institute Deputy Director Daira Zhigulskaya and students recited poems by Nazım Hikmet.

During the event, Kseniya Kurloviç, who was awarded at the International Harp Competition, gave a brief harp recital. Maria Kamısa and "Vkus Granata," Concentus Noster musical ensemble, and Tais and Yalkı Saka, who participated in "The Voice" competitions in Russia and Azerbaijan, sang Turkish and Russian songs.

During the event, personal belongings and works of Nazım Hikmet from the archive of Nazım Hikmet Library in Moscow were put on display, and delicacies from Turkish cuisine were offered.
