Nazim Hikmet Commemorated in Moscow on the 59th Anniversary of His Death
On the occasion of the 59th anniversary of the death of poet Nazım Hikmet, a commemoration event was held at his grave in Moscow, the capital of Russia.
A ceremony was held at the Novodevichy Cemetery under the auspices of Turkish Embassy in Moscow, Moscow Yunus Emre Institute (YEI), Russian-Turkish Businessmen’s Association (RTİB), and Moscow Nazim Hikmet Library.
Many Turkish and Russian citizens were present at the ceremony on June 3, 2022, which was attended by Moscow Ambassador Mehmet Samsar and representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations.
Ambassador Samsar and citizens left wreaths and carnations on Nazım Hikmet’s grave.
The speech program at the ceremony at the cemetery was canceled due to heavy rain.
Moscow Nazım Hikmet Foundation also organized various events to commemorate the poet Nazım Hikmet.
The life and works of Nazım Hikmet will be discussed at the conference organized by the Russian Academy of Sciences and Russian State University for the Humanities.
The next day, with the organization of the foundation, in the program where concerts and other events will take place at the Pushkin Theater in Moscow, “Nazım Hikmet Friendship Award’’ will be given to its owner.
