“Sister School Correspondence Project’’ in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) organized a letter exchange and gifting event with the theme of “Brotherhood and Eternal Friendship’’ within the scope of “Sister School Correspondence Project’’ in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the event organized by Yunus Emre Institute on April, 18 2022, İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, and Turkish Airlines (THY), a gift giving activity with the content of Ramadan Feast was held between the students of sister schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.
At the event, letters and gifts from Turkey were delivered to their owners, while letters and gifts to be sent from Bosnia and Herzegovina were received.
A GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP TO STUDENTS OF 35 SCHOOLS LOCATED IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
Sarajevo YEI Director Mehmet Akif Yaman made a statement here by saying, “As part of the sister school project realized in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute and İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, students of 35 schools from Turkey presented their letters and gifts to students of 35 schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of Ramadan Feast.’’
Yaman said, “Through this activity, students get in touch with their brothers and sisters whom they do not see, do not know, and who are in a different country, and have the opportunity to make them happy with holiday gifts.’’
COOPERATION PROTOCOL SIGNED IN 2020
Gani Özbek, İstanbul Sancaktepe Halime Hatun Primary School Principal, said, “We brought the letters from İstanbul that our students wrote to the students here. While delivering the letters, we saw how happy the students were. We are planning to host our sister school in our school in İstanbul next month.
Edhem Mulabdic Primary School Principal Amela Avdic, where the event was held, stated that the organization started with the cooperation protocol signed in 2020 and that the sister school students sent gifts to each other by letters.
At the event where the 500 letters written by students learning Turkish as a second foreign language in 2021 were delivered to sister school students in İstanbul within the scope of “My Choice is Turkish’’ project carried out by Yunus Emre Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina, it was recorded that this year the number of letters and gifts was 700.
