"Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" in Cooperation with MoNE and UNHCR

The "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language Training of Trainers Program" was organized jointly by Yunus Emre Institute, the Directorate General of Lifelong Learning of the Ministry of National Education (MoNE) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in Ankara between December 2 and 6, 2019 for the teachers who teach Turkish at the public education centers in the cities with a sizable Syrian population.

The training program started with the attendance of 24 teachers from the public education centers in Ankara, Konya, Bursa and Kayseri on Monday, December 2, and the participants attended seminars on Teaching Grammar in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, Classroom Management in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, Thematic Approach and Vocabulary Teaching in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, Use of Drama Technique, New Approaches and Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and Developing Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking Skills and Classroom Activities.

At the end of the five-day training program at Plaza Hotel in Ankara, the closing ceremony was held on Friday, December 6, 2019 with the attendance of representatives from Yunus Emre Institute, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Ministry of National Education, and the Directorate General of Lifelong Learning. The program ended with the presentation of certificates to the teachers.
