Applications for the Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS), held by Yunus Emre Institute to certify the Turkish language proficiency, start on December 3, 2018. Applications for the exam will be collected between December 3 and 28, 2018, and the exam will be held on January 26, 2019.

The exam has been held three a times a year simultaneously in Turkey and in all countries where Yunus Emre Institute's agencies are located since 2013, and anyone who seeks to certify his/her proficiency in the Turkish language can take the test.

The exam has been developed to measure reading, listening, writing and speaking skills in compliance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and it is administered in three sessions and the successful candidates are issued Turkish Proficiency Certificates for the B2, C1 and C2 levels.

The TYS is a Turkish exam with international validity and it facilitates applications for jobs and education and it is of great importance for the standardization of Turkish instruction abroad. The Turkish Proficiency Certificates provides exemption from Turkish preparatory classes for the candidates who seek to attend a school in Turkey, and it is also required from the foreigners who wish to work as Turkish guides or interpreters.
