Turkish Cinema from Past to Present in Nur-Sultan

Eight films will be screened in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, as part of the "Turkish Film Week" project which seeks to promote and improve the Turkish cinema sector.

This project is undertaken by Yunus Emre Institute with support from the Directorate General of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, and the screening of the films will be hosted at Keruen Shopping Center Kinopark 7 Movie Theater in Nur-Sultan between November 18 and 25, 2019.

The Turkish Film Week features the finely curated selection of Turkish films and it will be premiered with "Uzun Hikaye" (A Long Story) directed by Osman Sınav. Eight films from different genres including trade, history, action, musical, romanticism and comedy, namely "Patron Mutlu Son İstiyor" (Boss Wants a Happy Ending), directed by Kıvanç Baruönü, "Kelebeğin Rüyası" (The Butterfly's Dream), directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan, "Hokkabaz" (The Magician), co-directed by Cem Yılmaz and Ali Taner Baltacı, "Ekşi Elmalar" (Sour Apples), scripted and directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan, "Unutursam Fısılda" (Whisper If I Forget), directed by Çağan Irmak, bringing the Turkish cinema of 1970s to our time, "Ertuğrul 1890," a Turkish-Japanese co-production directed by Mitsutoshi Tanaka, and "Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım" (The Girl with the Red Scarf), directed by Atıf Yılmaz and based on Chingiz Aitmatov's famous story. The screening of the films will start on Monday, November 18.
