Turkish Delicacies Draw Heavy Interest in Washington

Turkish simit and Turkish coffee have been popular among the thousands of attendants in the international promotion days entitled "Winternational Embassy Showcase," held in Washington DC, the capital of the United States of America.

The event, held at Ronald Reagan building on December 5, 2019 with the participation of the embassies of many countries in Washington, was opened by Assistant Secretary at U.S. Department of State Marie Royce.

Yunus Emre Institute's Washington DC Branch opened a special booth for the promotion days with support from the Turkish embassy in Washington DC. The booth showcased the books and leaflets on Turkey and Turkish culture as well as Turkish teach, Turkish coffee, simit and kadayıf.

More than 60 countries were represented at the event and the visitors paid special attention to the Turkish coffee and simit. The visitors were also briefed about the programs the Institute has been conducted in Washington DC using the tools of actual diplomacy such as Turkish language courses, cuisine, and cinema.
