Yunus Emre Institute's Washington DC Branch has cooperated with the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto to bring many Turkish films to Canadian moviegoers at the historic Royal Theater in Toronto within the scope of the "2nd Turkish Film Week" project.

The opening of the second iteration of the event held in collaboration with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism General Directorate of Cinema was made with screening of "Kalandar Soğuğu" (Cold of Kalandar), directed by Mustafa Kara. "Türk İşi Dondurma," directed by Can Ulkay, and "Çiçero" (Cicero), directed by Serdar Akar, also made their debut in Canada. The event contained six feature films and on its second day, "Sofra Sırları" (Serial Cook) by Ümit Ünal, "Hokkabaz" (The Magician) by Cem Yılmaz and Ali Taner Baltacı and "Ahlat Ağacı" (The Wild Pear Tree) by Nuri Bilge Ceylan were screened.

Delivering a keynote speech ahead of the program, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Toronto Erdeniz Şen noted that the political and commercial ties between Turkey and Canada are improving in all areas. He called on the moviegoers who attended the event to visit Turkey.

As part of the 2nd Turkish Film Week, around 100 Turkish films have been screened in 20 different cities around the world, and the event is planned to be held in Toronto in coming years as well.
