Turkish Films Set Out for a World Tour

The Yunus Emre Institute will organize “Turkish Films Week” in different part of the world with the support of the Directorate General of Cinema of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Cinema is not only one of the most important and effective instruments of a cultural diplomacy, but It is also considered the strongest sector in the field of arts. Consequently, the Turkish Films Weeks project is designed to contribute to the promotion of Turkey benefiting from the experience of the Directorate General of Cinema.  

The project, which aims at cultural interaction through intellectual circles and  university youths, also include various other activities such as meetings with actors, actresses, directors, scriptwriters and producer, talk shows, workshops, offers from the Turkish cuisine and exhibitions of cinema posters and objects.         

The journey of the “Turkish Films Week” will begin with Zagreb and continue with Amman, Beirut, Budapest, Bucharest, Kazan, London, Rabat, Tehran, Vienna and Warsaw. 

The events, which will provide an opportunity for art lovers abroad to see unforgettable films of the Turkish cinema, will also include short film screenings.   

First stop is Zagreb

The first of the Turkish Films Weeks start today in Zagreb, Croatia, in the European Cinema, the oldest and most prestigious cinema of the city. 10 Turkish films will meet with art lovers there.

The week will start with the screening of the movie “Ayla” and will continue until May 27. Other films to be screened during the week include Derviş Zaim's "Balık" (Fish), Burak Aksak's "Bana Masal Anlatma" (Don’t tell me fairy stories), Reha Erdem's "Korkuyorum Anne" (I am afraid, Mom) , Ümit Köreken's "Mavi Bisiklet" (Blue Bicycle). Attendance will be free of charge.
