A certificate ceremony has been held for 125 trainees who have successfully completed the "speaking/writing" and "translation" summer courses organized by Yunus Emre Institute's Cairo Branch.

The ceremony was attended by Education Counselor of the Republic of Turkey to Cairo Dr. Şaban Karataş, Commercial Counselor of the Republic of Turkey to Cairo Mehmet Güneş, trainees and invitees.

Institute Director Emin Boyraz delivered a keynote speech during the ceremony, noting that those who learned Turkish at Yunus Emre Institute will be preferred in recruitment and in benefiting from educational opportunities in Turkey. "Those who have learned Turkish at our Institute will assume the role of bridging the two countries," he said.

Education Counselor Karataş underlined that Yunus Emre Institute's Cairo Branch conducts commendable cultural activities between Turkey and Egypt. "To learn Turkish is not to speak a language. Learning Turkish can provide many opportunities in many areas including education and employment. Indeed, the scholarship given various universities in Turkey and other institution are some of the opportunities in this regard," he said.

Commercial Counselor Güneş chatted with the students, pointing out that Egypt has become one of the important trade partners of Turkey as the mutual trade value has been on the rise in recent years. Noting that the trade volume between the two countries reached a record-breaking level in 2018, Güneş indicated that Turkey had many investments in Egypt, and as such, the need for Egyptians who can speak Turkish is rising.

The courses lasted for 48 hours between June 23 and July 24, 2019 and aimed to ensure that the trainees could improve their speaking and writing skills as well as translation capabilities.
