"From Türkiye to Greece, from Pop to Folk Songs" Concert in Amsterdam

The “From Türkiye to Greece, from Pop to Folk Songs” concert organized by Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) was followed with interest by Turkish, Greek and Dutch music lovers.

An orchestra concert consisting of Turkish and Greek artists was given at the event organized by Amsterdam YEI at the OBA Amsterdam Central Library Concert Hall.

Türkiye's Ambassador to the Hague Selçuk Ünal, Amsterdam Consul General Mahmut Burak Ersoy, Greece's Ambassador to the Hague Caterina Ghini and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Ambassador to the Hague Almir Šahović, as well as representatives from the Pakistani Embassy and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the concert.

The orchestra, consisting of Turkish and Greek artists, performed the songs of Turkish and Greek composers together in both countries at the concert attended by many Turkish, Greek and Dutch music lovers.

Stating that this year is very important in the relations between the Netherlands and Turkey and said, "We are celebrating this year as the 100th anniversary of the Netherlands-Turkey friendship declaration and the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of the Netherlands-Türkiye Labor Agreement,” Ambassador Ünal, who made a greeting speech before the concert.

Ünal explained that in addition to the workforce provided by the Turks and Greeks who came to the Netherlands, the diplomats of the two countries often acted together in historical events, especially the Second World War.

Amsterdam YEI Coordinator Adil Akaltun, in his speech before the concert, said, "The commonality of melodies reflects Yunus Emre's message of universal peace."

Emphasizing the deep relations between the two countries, "The Prime Minister of Greece will visit Türkiye in a short time, what brought us together in this concert and the common thing that keeps us side by side in the two countries is to love and to understand each other as well ws the universal message of Yunus Emre. We need these feelings so much these days,” Akaltun said,

The event ended with presenting flowers to the musicians by the ambassadors.
