"Yunus Emre Lovers" Concert in Baku
The concert titled "Yunus Emre Lovers" was organized in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani deputies and important figures from the literature and art scene attended the event organized by Baku Yunus Emre Institute (YEI) International Mugham Center.
In his speech before the event, Baku Yunus Emre Institute Director Selçuk Karakılıç remarked that Yunus Emre is one of the names that can best express Turkey's open face.
“YUNUS EMRE IS A UNIQUE VIRTUOSO OF LANGUAGE”
Karakılıç stated that Yunus Emre was a great poet who built the Turkish of modern Turkey, and a great thinker with didactic teachings:
"Bütün insanlığa dil, din ve ırkı ayrımı gözetmeksizin sevmeyi tavsiye eden Yunus Emre, yaşadığı çağın çok ötesinde düşünebilen büyük bir düşünür, gönlü dünyadan çok daha büyük bir şairdir." |
“He is a unique virtuoso of language who built Turkey’s language of the heart, and turned it into art. His poems have been memorized for seven centuries and composed into hymns. He is truly an architect of the heart. He preached loving all humankind regardless of language, religion or race. Yunus Emre is a poet way beyond his time, with a heart larger than life.”
A short movie about the life and works of Yunus Emre was screened at the event. Azerbaijan National Science Academy Folklore Institute presented the “Korkut Folklore Ensemble,” while the Pearl of World Music: Mugham Ensemble made another presentation.
Songs composed for Yunus Emre's poems, wise words and philosophical poems were performed at the event.
