6th Turkish Community Art Exhibition Opens in London

The 'Turkish Community Art Exhibition', which was organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in London and London Yunus Emre Institute with the call "Let's meet with art" and took place for the sixth time this year, was opened to visitors at the Yunus Emre Institute London Gallery.

The Turkish Community Art Exhibition, organized continuously since 2019 by the Consulate General of the Republic of Türkiye in London and the Yunus Emre Institute London, aims to encourage the productivity of artists living in the United Kingdom, bring them together with art lovers and strengthen the unity of the Turkish society. The exhibition was presented to art lovers at a ceremony held at the London Yunus Emre Institute Art Gallery on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, with great interest from the artists and their families.

Artists and art lovers who came together at the exhibition organized with the support and contribution of Turkish artists living in the United Kingdom had the experience of closely examining the works of art on display. The exhibition, where works of artists will also be sold in order to support the artists and increase their recognition, will be open to visitors at the London Yunus Emre Institute Art Gallery between 5 and 25 March 2024.

66 Works from Traditional Arts to Digital Art

This year, 113 applications were submitted for the exhibition and 66 unique works by 46 artists were selected, representing a wide range of artistic expressions, from traditional arts to digital art, from photography to handcrafted projects.

The Turkish Community Art Exhibition, which is a collective work, plays an important role in making art reach wider audiences and creating a platform for artists, while also encouraging social interaction, dialogue and unity. This year, the exhibition was curated by a distinguished jury group consisting of seven artists: Türkiye's Consul General in London Mr. Bekir Utku Atahan, Yunus Emre Institute London Director Mehmet Karakuş, Artist Ali Haydar Yeşilyurt, Artist Cevdet Akman, Artist Nagihan Seymour, Artist Nilay İşlek, Artist Rümeysa Memiş. The jury members evaluated the works based on originality, creativity, technique and expression.

The exhibition was opened with a special opening ceremony attended by participating artists and important names. Guests including artists, art lovers, diplomats, journalists and academics attended the opening ceremony. Among the guests of the exhibition were Türkiye’s Consul General in London Bekir Utku Atahan, Yunus Emre Institute London Director Mehmet Karakuş, Camden Deputy Mayor Samata Khatoon and jury members of the exhibition. The jury members presented each artist with a certificate of participation. While guests enjoyed the exhibited works and the lively atmosphere of the event, they had a pleasant time accompanied by treats from Turkish cuisine and friendly conversations.
