Applications began today for the last Turkish Proficiency Exam of the year 2018. The Turkish Proficiency Exams have been developed by the Yunus Emre Institute on the basis of the “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”

It is possible to apply for the exam on 18 June-13 July 2018. The exam is organized three times per year to measure the reading, listening, writing and speaking skills of the individuals who want to get their Turkish proficiency certified. Successful candidates are rewarded with B2, C1 or C2 level Turkish Proficiency Certificates.

The last exam of the year will be held on 28 July 2018. The Turkish proficiency Exams have been held since 2013 at the same times in Turkey and other countries where there are Yunus Emre Institutes. The exams are organized three times per year in three sessions:  The first session is composed of reading for 60 minutes and listening for 45 minutes, total 105 minutes. The second session is composed of writing-1 for 20 minutes and writing-2 for 40 minutes, total 60 minutes. The third session lasts for 15 minutes, 5 minutes for independent speaking and 10 minutes for speaking in a dialogue.  The exams last for 180 minutes in total.    

The foreign students who obtain Turkish Proficiency Certificates are held exempt from attending mandatory Turkish preparatory classes before they begin their studies in Turkey. Such certificates are also required for those who want to work as Turkish guides or translators.
