Argentina’s Ambassador to Turkey Salas Learns Turkish

Argentina’s Ambassador to Ankara Patricia Beatriz Salas de Espada started learning Turkish. Salas attends Yunus Emre Institute's Turkish courses to learn Turkish. Ambassador Salas memorizes Turkish nursery rhymes and makes great efforts to learn Turkish. Taking Turkish lessons two days a week in her ambassadorial office, Salas expresses herself quite well in Turkish.

"TURKISH IS A DIFFICULT LANGUAGE"

Ambassador Salas, who decided to learn Turkish before coming to Turkey because she was familiar with Turkish TV series, has been studying with determination for about five months. Sharing details about her journey of learning Turkish, Salas said: "Turkish is a difficult language. I get that better now.” Salas has earned the appreciation of her instructor who also tutors the ambassadors of Chile, Sudan and Niger. She stated: “I like reading in Turkish, listening to Turkish music and going to concerts of Turkish artists.” In addition to her Turkish lessons, Salas is also a fan of Turkish culture and she makes great efforts to learn something new every day. Her favorite dessert in Turkish cuisine is baklava.

TURKISH MESSAGE TO THE ATHLETES BEFORE THE ARGENTINA MATCH

Salas finds Ankara to be a very beautiful city and is interested in football. Stating that her favorite team in the World Cup is Argentina, the Ambassador said that she fully believes that Argentina will be the champion: "Unfortunately we are playing against a fellow Latin American country, Mexico. But competition is one thing, fellowship is another. We have Lionel Messi in our ranks, considered the best football player in the world.”

Before the Mexico-Argentina match, Ambassador Salas sent a message to the Mexican football players in Turkish to motivate them and wished them success.
