Bruneians, who learned to play the oud in courses organized by Yunus Emre Institute, perform unforgettable works of Turkish music in different parts of Brunei.

Bruneians who attended oud courses, perform unique examples of Turkish music in different parts of Brunei with the many activities they participate in, from the concert they gave at the Sultan Palace to the concerts they give throughout the week within the scope of the "Turkish Culture and Cuisine" event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bandar Seri Begavan and Bandar Seri Begavan Yunus Emre Institute.

Upon the request of the Brunei Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Bandar Seri Begavan Yunus Emre Institute organized oud courses at different levels for Bruneians. The courses were held for a month under the instruction of Oud Artist Enes Metehan Şahin.

Bruneians who attended the oud courses organized by the institute attended the final night of the music competition held in Brunei and broadcast live on local channels of the country. In the program attended by many people, including high-level bureaucrats, foreign mission chiefs and representatives of local institutions, Bruneians performed the song  "While Going to Üsküdar" (Üsküdar'a Gider iken) and received great applause from the guests.

“I am in a group as a musician. I took lessons from a Turkish oud artist from Türkiye in the course organized by the institute. I would like to thank Yunus Emre Institute for providing such a special opportunity,” Rosmani bin Haji Muhammed Nur, who attended the oud course said.

“The courses went very well and were very useful for us. I would like to thank the Brunei Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for allowing us to participate in these courses,” another trainee, Saiful Rizal said, 

Turkish Culture Is Becoming Widespread in Brunei

Bandar Seri Begavan Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Şahabettin Dalar used the following expressions in his statement: “Last year, with the aim of explaining Türkiye's cultural values in Brunei, we started our Turkish language teaching activities within Sultan Şerif Ali Islamic University, one of the leading universities in the country. We continue to expand our range of activities in Brunei with the interest Bruneians show in Turkish culture and with the activities we have determined specifically for the 100th anniversary of our Republic." 

“We added courses introducing Turkish music and instruments to the traditional Turkish art courses that we started to introduce the cultural elements of Türkiye. It makes us very happy to witness the interest shown in Turkish culture and Turkish in Brunei, where we carry Türkiye's civilizational background," Coordinator Dalar said,
