Centennial Republic Monuments Exhibition Opened in Rome

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey, the exhibition titled "A Centennial Republic Monuments", which includes pictures of architectural structures built during the Republican Era, was opened by Rome Yunus Emre Institute.

In the exhibition hosted by the Institute, Painter İrem İncedayı's works depicting architectural structures built during the Republican Era were presented to Roman art lovers.

Türkiye's Ambassador to Rome Ömer Güçlük, Türkiye's Vatican Ambassador Ufuk Ulutaş, Rome Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Zafer Kıyıcı, art lovers, guests and members of the press attended the opening of the exhibition.

In his speech at the opening, stating that Türkiye welcomed its new century strongly and said, “Turkish painting, with all its richness, has gained an important place in the world's art scene in the 100th anniversary of our Republic. In our exhibition, you will see examples of monuments completed during the Republican Era depicted." Ambassador Ömer Güçlük said.

Stating that some of the works of Italian artists and architects in Türkiye were reflected on canvas by Painter İncedayı in the exhibition, "These works are another indication that the historical and cultural relations between Türkiye and Italy are strong and close," Ambassador Ömer Güçlük said.

Rome Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Zafer Kıyıcı said that the exhibition includes many important monuments and architecture, from Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic, to the Atatürk Statue in Ulus, from the 15 July Martyrs Bridge to the Samsun Honor Monument. 

Painter İrem İncedayı stated that her grandfather, Cevdet Kerim İncedayı, served in high-level positions as a minister during the founding of the Republic of Türkiye and made the following assessment: "It is a great honor for me to open such an exhibition on the 100th anniversary of the Republic. I tried to reflect the magnificence of the monuments and architectural structures built during the Republican Era with my works." 

At the event, a plaque was presented to Painter İrem İncedayı by Türkiye's Ambassador to Rome Ömer Güçlük and Rome Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Zafer Kıyıcı.

The Centennial Republic Monuments Exhibition will be open to visitors at Rome Yunus Emre Institute until November 12nd, 2023.
