Children in Estonia Listened to Turkish Fairytales

A celebration program was organized by the Turkish Embassy in Tallinn on the occasion of the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day. In this context, visits were organized to the Keila SOS Children’s Village and two kindergartens which are home to the children in need of care.

First, the Keila SOS Village was visited on April 19th where 52 children live together with the families taking care of them. The SOS authorities in the village provided information about the SOS system, followed by the visit of the village and a family house.

On Monday April 23rd,  a visit was organized to a bilingual kindergarten called “Lasteaed Kelluke” where Estonian and Russian children receive education together. On Thursday April 26th, the kindergarten called “Tallinna Vormsi Lasteaed”, one of the oldest schooling establishments in Estonia, was visited.

The Turkish Ambassador in Tallinn Hayriye Kumaşçıoğlu, who attended the celebrations, said that the April 23rd  National Sovereignty and Children’s Day is an important festival which demonstrates our  country’s confidence in the youth and that she was happy to celebrate this significant day together with Turkish and Estonian children.

The Turkish children celebrated the festival together with their Estonian friends,  reading poems and singing songs. In addition, Jevgenia Nazarova and Mari-Liss Remmel, two students studying Turkish language in the Tallinn University, told Turkish fairytales in the Estonian and Russian languages. The children liked the fairytales and they were given the Estonian copies of the book called “The Red Apple” written by Feridun Oral. The children were also offered chocolates and candies brought by the Turkish Embassy from Turkey as well as toys provided by the Turkish Airlines which sponsored the event.
