"Colors of Anatolia: Kadesh" in Amsterdam

The latest stop of the dance show with the theme “Kadesh” organized by the Yunus Emre Institute as part of it “Colors of Anatolia” world tour was Amsterdam. 

The colorful musical accumulation and folk dances of Anatolia were presented to the taste of Dutch art lovers in a show named after the first peace treaty in the world. 

In his opening speech of the event, Amsterdam Yunus Emre Institute Director Abdullah Akın Altay informed the audience about the activities of the Institute and said that dance, which is a universal value like music, brought together peoples of different cultures and traditions.     

The Kadesh Treaty is known as the peace treaty signed in 1280 BC between Egyptian Pharaoh Ramesses II and Hittite King Hattusili  III to end the Battle of Kadesh and divide the territories of modern day Syria between the two countries. According to the historical sources, it  is also known as the first written peace treaty in the world.
