Bucharest Yunus Emre Institute continues to take steps to further strengthen cooperation with local authorities in Romania and to carry relations with local authorities to the next level.

A cooperation protocol was signed between Bucharest Yunus Emre Institute and Cernavoda Municipality on December 23, 2022 with the participation of the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Constanta Emre Yurdakul.

IMPROVING RELATIONS WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES

Bucharest Yunus Emre Institute and Cernavoda Municipality will cooperate in organizing joint activities and other areas of culture, especially Turkish language courses for municipal employees.

YEI IS AN ESSENTIAL COMPONENT OF THE RELATIONS BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES

Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Constanta Emre Yurdakul stated, "Considering that the relations between Türkiye and Romania are at a favorable level in every field, it is an undeniable fact that Yunus Emre Institute has been an essential component of these relations since it started its operations. Our fellow countrypeople, the majority of whom are located in the Dobrudja Region, play a significant role in reinforcing our culture and language, which has been spoken in these lands for centuries, and are recognized as one of the representatives of our common values. I hope that the protocol signed today will be beneficial for the Romanians, our countrypeople and citizens living in Cernavoda."

TÜRKİYE AND ROMANIA: COMMON GEOGRAPHY, COMMON VALUES

Bucharest Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Mustafa Yıldız commented on the signed protocol, " Türkiye and Romania are two countries that have a cultural background and partnership based on history, not only geography. The city of Cernavoda, known as "Boğazköy" in Ottoman times, where we signed this cooperation protocol today, was one of the largest cities in Dobrudja during the Ottoman period. Looking at the few surviving artifacts, it is clear that this used to be a Turkish town. We wish to pass on our long-standing unity to future generations as a lasting legacy of friendship and love. We will support each other in organizing joint activities. The strength born from unity will enable us to organize more culture and arts activities and teach Turkish to more people."

THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES WILL BE FURTHER STRENGTHENED IN THE CULTURAL FIELD

Mayor of Cernavoda Liviu-Cristian Negoita noted, "I am honored to cooperate with Yunus Emre Institute, which carries out activities around the world, and to sign this protocol that solidifies our cooperation. I am confident that the friendship established between the two countries with this protocol will be further strengthened in the cultural field. We will support all the activities that Yunus Emre Institute will organize and carry out in cooperation with us.”
