“Exhibition for the 100th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Türkiye and Albania” Opens in Albania

The exhibition titled “100th Anniversary of Türkiye-Albania Diplomatic Relations” was opened in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

 

In the exhibition organized under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Tirana and in cooperation with the Tirana Yunus Emre Institute, the Presidency of Republic of Türkiye Directorate of State Archives and the Albanian National History Museum, documents and photographs regarding the relations between the two countries are exhibited.

 

Tayyar Kağan Atay, ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Tirana, Tirana Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Ömer Osman Demirbaş, Professor Uğur Ünal, head of the Republic of Türkiye Presidential State Archives, Kastriot Robo, director of the Regional Countries of Albania’s Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and former Albanian Ambassador to Ankara, foreign mission chiefs and representatives of different institutions and organizations in Albania attended the opening of the exhibition, hosted by the Albanian National History Museum, was held on October 10th, 2023, with the participation of the Republic of Türkiye.

 

Reminding that 2023 is a very important year and said, “We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Albania,” Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Tirana, Tayyar Kağan Atay said.

 

Ambassador Atay said that through the exhibition, they aimed to visualize the history of 100 years of diplomatic relations with some documents and photographs that will leave their mark on history.

 

Professor Uğur Ünal, the head of the Republic of Türkiye Presidential State Archives,  said that the exhibition covers a 100-year period from 1923 to the present and consists mainly of official documents belonging to the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye.

 

Stating that this exhibition has a special importance in terms of relations in the region and that these relations are reflected through the documents exhibited, “We also witness that the relations between Türkiye and Albania, dating back to the Ottoman Era and originating from a common history, have continued from the declaration of the Republic to the present day,” Ünal said.

 

Former Albanian Ambassador to Ankara Kastriot Robo emphasized that the exhibition is very important in terms of reflecting the 100-year period of relations between the two countries.

 

“In addition to being strategic partnership relations based on a historical reality, these relations are based on the excellent cooperation of our leaders today, namely the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama,” Robo said.

 

The exhibition titled “100th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Türkiye and Albania” will be open to visitors until October 16th, 2023.
