Great Interest in "Turkish Cinema Days" Held in Senegal

A program called "Turkish Cinema Days" was held in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, with the participation of Türkiye's leading screenwriters and producers.

"Turkish Cinema Days", organized within the scope of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Dakar and Dakar Yunus Emre Institute, started with a gala night.

Almost 300 people including Golden Palm Award-winning Producer Zeynep Atakan, Composer and Pianist Selim Atakan, writer, screenwriter and producer Tarık Tufan, Turkish Ambassador in Dakar Nur Sağman, Dakar Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Merve Işık Efe, Embassy staff, representatives of local institutions and movie lovers attended the gala, which was held in a cinema in Dakar.

Before the screening of the film "Atatürk 1881-1919", a short recital was given by Composer and Pianist Atakan, which included the soundtracks that left their mark on Turkish cinema.

After the recital, Turkish Ambassador in Dakar Nur Sağman gave a speech about the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye and the movie "Atatürk 1881-1919".

Following the program, the film "Atatürk 1881-1919", directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin and starring Aras Bulut İğnemli, was screened.

In the last part of the program, delicacies of Turkish cuisine were served to the guests. The event, where Turkish films and Turkish cuisine were introduced, attracted great attention from the guests.

Senegalese Screenwriters, Young Writers and Cinema Students Brought Together

Within the scope of "Turkish Cinema Days", a workshop called "Living to Tell" was organized, bringing together Senegalese screenwriters, young writers and cinema students.

In the workshop, which attracted great interest from the participants, Tufan underlined that a good story should arouse curiosity and stated that a good narrator should create layers in the story.

Senegalese Women Filmmakers and Producers Met at Dakar Yunus Emre Institute

Producer Zeynep Atakan met with Senegalese female filmmakers at Dakar Yunus Emre Institute.

At the event titled "Creating Womanly in Cinema", Actress and Art Director Nathalia Vairac, Writer and Screenwriter Amina Seck and Screenwriter and Producer Kalista Sy talked about the place of women in the cinema industry and shared their experiences in the industry.

Turkish Ambassador in Dakar Nur Sağman and Dakar Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator Merve Işık Efe and many guests from the world of cinema and art attended the event. 

More than 10 Turkish Movies will Be Screened at Turkish Cinema Days

Within the scope of Turkish Cinema Days, screenings of the films "Pear Tree" (Ahlat Ağacı), "Yunus Emre The Voice of Love" (Yunus Emre Aşkın Sesi), "Deliormanlı", "Evliya Çelebi and the Water of Immortality" (Evliya Çelebi ve Ölümsüzlük Suyu), "Announcement" (Anons), "Sour Apples" (Ekşi Elmalar), "The Last Letter" (Son Mektup), "My Brother" (Kardeşim Benim), "The Husband Factory” (Kocan Kadar Konuş), “Yozgat Blues”, “Are We OK?” (Tamam mıyız), will continue until November 19, 2023.
