In the 25th year of the diplomatic relations between Turkey and Ukraine, an important step was taken to contribute to advance of cultural diplomacy between the two countries.

Erdoğan: We are to inaugurate a Yunus Emre Enstitüsü centre in Ukraine

In an official visit to Ukraine, President Erdoğan announced the opening of a Yunus Emre Enstitüsü centre in Kiev to cater to the interest Ukrainians take in Turkish culture and language. Erdoğan also thanked Ukrainian officials for their support in this issue.

The Enstitü will offer services in a large venue in city centre

Kiev Yunus Emre Enstitüsü is located on Putskinkaya street near city's most famous avenue, Khreshchatyk at the junction of subway stations. On a wide usage area of 733.9 m², in the centre there are 4 classrooms, 1 conference hall, 1 library, 2 administrative rooms and a large garden suitable for utilization in summer where exhibitions and events can be held.

Turkish Instruction offered at 4 major universities in Kiev

Yunus Emre Enstitüsü continues to cooperate with universities in Ukraine through Turcology Project. The Enstitü currently has Turcology Protocols with Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University, Lviv Ivan Franko National University, Odessa National Mechnikov University and H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University.

25th  Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Turkey and Ukraine

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu who visited Ukraine in February, remarked the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Ukraine and stressed that the Enstitü to be opened in Kiev will strengthen the cultural diplomacy relations between Ukraine and Turkey.

President Ateş: We bring the wisdom and tolerance of Anatolia to the world

Informing that Yunus Emre Enstitüsü organizes more than 1,200 activities yearly, Yunus Emre Enstitüsü President Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş expressed that the main purpose of these operations in countries where Enstitü centres are located, is to increase the number of people who are in connection with Turkey and who admire Turkey. Ateş stated that the Enstitü brings Anatolia's wisdom, tolerance and people-oriented approach to the whole world by presenting artists' activities abroad.

Ateş ended his speech as follows: "Of course, we do not only bring our own culture to the world; we also carry cultural aspects in countries we are active in to Turkey which will contribute to our nation and culture, and improve our humanitarian values."

139 contact points in 61 countries worldwide

Yunus Emre Institute that launched its operations in 2009, increased the number of centres to 54 in its 8th year of operation. Ateş expressed that extensive legal infrastructure work is required to open a cultural centre and these sometimes take a year, sometimes longer. Ateş also noted that they have reached 139 contact points in 61 countries in total, by making agreements with universities in the country and by opening offices in the universities.

Prof. Dr. Şeref Ateş said that they aim to increase the number of Enstitü centres abroad by the end of this year through efforts. The objective of Yunus Emre Enstitüsü that teaches Turkish to thousands of people each year in a number of world capitals, is to increase the number of centres worldwide to 100 in line with 2023 Vision.
