Yunus Emre Institute has recently published the “Pages Unveiling Turkish Culture” agenda, offering a captivating exploration of Türkiye’s profound cultural legacy, featuring ancient values, iconic historical figures, architectural wonders, and diverse geographical treasures.

The 2024 edition of “Pages Unveiling Turkish Culture,” marking its fifth publication, is dedicated to Yunus Emre, a figure of distinct significance in the cultural fabric of Anatolia, from which the Institute derives its name.

The agenda, crafted in five languages  – Turkish, English, French, Russian, and Arabic  – features a comprehensive analysis of the themes of “love,” “unity,” “heart,” and “path” within Yunus Emre's poetic works through a foreword by Prof. Şeref Ateş, President of the Yunus Emre Institute, and an article titled “Yunus Emre: An Anatolian Sage” by philosopher Prof. Kenan Gürsoy, Türkiye’s Former Ambassador to the Vatican.

The initial page of the Turkish culture section showcases a meticulously crafted marbling design created exclusively for the agenda. It also features visuals of the historical building of the Institute in Ulus, along with an overview of the Institute’s mission. The final page, on the other hand, highlights the distinctive values of the country, presented through numerical data within the map of Türkiye.

“My hope is that in 2024, Yunus Emre’s ethos of ‘Let’s love, let’s be loved’ blossoms and thrives in the hearts of humanity”

In his foreword, Prof. Şeref Ateş, President of the Institute, conveyed the following sentiments:

“The ideas of Yunus Emre, a key figure in the spiritual and intellectual evolution of the Turkish language, swiftly permeated owing to the depth of meaning embedded in his works. The essence of his profound insights has been preserved not only in Anatolia but also in distant geographies for centuries to come. His vision of ‘unification’ has paved the way for the advancement of our culture and the invaluable values it has contributed to humanity.

In the digital age, individuals and their values often find themselves relegated to the background amid the swift technological transformations. Individuals caught in this predicament today must rediscover themselves and ‘wake up to their essence once more’. It is increasingly evident that as humanity we are in dire need of the wisdom imparted by our very own Yunus now more than ever. His warm breath and profound meaning serve as an ethos, prompting the remembrance, reminder, and embodiment of human values that are often overlooked in today’s world.

My hope is that in 2024, Yunus Emre’s ethos of ‘Let’s love, let’s be loved’ blossoms and thrives in the hearts of humanity.”

“Pages Unveiling Turkish Culture” encompasses a wealth of content and visuals, spanning from Turkish cinema to the arts, and from historical landmarks in Türkiye to the diversity of Turkish musical instruments.

Yunus Emre Institute is committed to unveiling Türkiye’s cultural heritage, presenting the “Pages Unveiling Turkish Culture” agenda with a unique theme each year.
