Traditional Turkish Handicrafts Introduced in Brunei

Activities for the promotion of Türkiye's cultural elements have been initiated by the Yunus Emre Institute's representative office in Bandar Seri Begavan, the capital of Brunei.

Hosted by Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye, Islamic Turkish calligraphy workshops were held under the instruction of calligraphy artists Seyit Ahmet Depeler and Abdürrahim Kahya.

Islamic Turkish calligraphy, which has attracted intense interest from Bruneians, will be organized as a course in 2024 at the Bandar Seri Begavan Embassy and various institutions and organizations in Brunei.

Islamic Turkish Calligraphy tol Be Introduced in Brunei

Islamic Turkish calligraphy courses will be held in cooperation with the Embassy of Republic of Türkiye in Bandar Seri Begavan, Bandar Seri Begavan Yunus Emre Institute, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation and Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA).

Calligraphy courses will be organized for 30 people at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Bandar Seri Begavan and for nearly 100 people in other institutions and organizations in Brunei by calligraphy artists Seyit Ahmet Depeler and Abdürrahim Kahya. 

In his statement, expressing his satisfaction with the intense interest of Bruneians in Turkish culture, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Bandar Seri Begavan Professor Hamit Ersoy expressed his gratitude to local institutions for their contributions to the organization of art courses.

Within the scope of Turkish teaching activities initiated by the Turkish Embassy in Bandar Seri Begavan and Bandar Seri Begavan Yunus Emre Institute in 2022, hundreds of Bruneians were introduced to Turkish and Turkish culture.
