Turkish Coffee Offered to Iranians on World Coffee Day

Tehran Yunus Emre Institute organized a special event on the occasion of  “World Coffee Day” where the place of coffee in Turkish culture from past to present was explained.

 

Stating that traditions and customs constitute cultural heritage, Tehran Yunus Emre Institute Coordinator İbrahim Furkan Özdemir coffee is a symbol of communication and hospitality.

 

Stating that they organized this program on World Coffee Day to explain the place of Turkish coffee in Turkish culture from past to present, “In our event, we informed the participants about the preparation and presentation of Turkish coffee,” Coordinator Özdemir said.

 

At the event, after Tehran Yunus Emre Institute staff Sinan Özdemir gave information about the history of Turkish coffee, the participants were shown the preparation of Turkish coffee on embers in practice and the reasons for including water and Turkish delight in the traditional presentation of Turkish coffee were explained.

 

“Iranians, who showed great interest in our event, liked Turkish coffee very much. Turkish coffee is known and consumed in Iran, but although Turkish coffee is prepared the way we prepare it in other places, it does not taste the same. At the event we organized today, participants had the opportunity to taste the real taste of Turkish coffee for the first time here,” Sinan Özdemir said.

 

Regarding the questions asked by the participants about the preparation of Turkish coffee, Özdemir made the following assessment: “The tips for making Turkish coffee frothy were among the questions asked most by the participants. We demonstrated the preparation of coffee in practice and prepared Turkish coffee on sand. Turkish coffee presentation attracted the attention of the guests.”

 

Iranian artist Mani Rahnema, one of the participants, stated that he was interested in Turkish culture and lived in Istanbul for a while and said, “During my stay in Türkiye, I closely witnessed the hospitality of the Turkish nation. There are common cultural elements between Türkiye and Iran,” he said.

 

“I learned Turkish thanks to the Institute’s courses. In addition to Turkish courses, interesting events where Turkish culture is introduced are organized here. They served us Turkish coffee at the event. Turkish coffee was very delicious. At the event, we learned both the history of Turkish coffee and its preparation,” Mona Kalenoyi, one of the trainees of Tehran Yunus Emre Institute, said.

 

Hüseyin Seyid, one of the institute trainees, stated that they learned the preparation of Turkish coffee at the event and expressed his gratitude for the cultural event where important information about the history of Turkish coffee was shared and coffee was served.
